Screen Printing on glass actually produces very stunning effects, though Glass printing requires a fine degree of art, due to the non-porous surface of the glass, high surface tension and issues with static electricity. But all of these can be dealt easily if Glass type, ink type, curing process of the inks in use, adhesion requirements, environmental conditions, print method and accurate formulation of ink is known.
When Printing on primered pretreated glass surface, multiple colors on the same design, multiple radius of the product and large production runs are required, Pad printing seems to be the best option for printing on glass guaranteeing extremely high adhesion.
Foiling or hot stamping is another cost effective technique of glass decoration in which the metal foil is transferred on the glass surface by action of heat giving brilliant results of golden, silver and other colors on the glass bottles when special decorations of logos, special information are required to be printed for enhancing packaging effects mostly in the cosmetic, FMCG or promotional sectors. This technique of hot stamping can be combined with other methods of glass printing like pad printing and silk screen glass printing to create an outstanding & elegant effect on the package.
